Photo of José Elí Roldán El Salvador

The year was 1966, Zacatecoluca Barrio Santa Lucia, La Paz. El Salvador, on the Fifth Avenue North in the house 19. My father watched Eli the least of my brothers, who drew with charcoal on the floor for a few small pictures including animals, houses, trees and others, my father said: "This child likes to draw, I'll buy some plasters that can draw ". It was thus not only bought the plaster but it produced a slate, in which every day draws a different animal. The delight of my brother is that the neighbors were good comments from the drawings he made on the board. Subsequently, while in primary school, my brother completed booklets of drawing with colored pencils which are sometimes lost among the many things my father had. Catarino In school he was studying Eli, I used to participate in drawing posters it was a tradition in this school, and a couple of occasions, participated in drawing competitions, but did not win because there were others who surpassed. However, my father watched my brother's concern to continue drawing, was well as in the year 1972 to enter the seventh grade, bought some watercolors, tempera and a pair of brushes. So my brother began to paint on cardboard different animals, which placed them on a wall as a tapestry. Upon entering high school at the Jose Simeon Reed, was the delight of fellow students and teachers see the signs which he did. But all this is to no academic guidance. With my father always encouraged my brother talking about drawing and painting workshop which took Marcelino Carballo near what is now Cairo store in the city of Zacatecoluca, used to say of those who attended the workshop, including Camilo Minero, Alejandro Coto et al. Thus it was that in 1977 the house was opened in the culture of the academy Zacatecoluca drawing and painting "Art and Time," directed by the painter and sculptor Camilo Bonilla Quiet - also home viroleño. (Currently this teacher living in Japan). By then a group of about 20 young Camilo Bonilla visited different places to draw, between these Ichanmichen, cemetery, park, the Church of Santa Lucia and others. With this training and for about two and a half, my brother began to produce works of a higher grade, to the extent that in 1979 won third place in the national contest sponsored by drawing and painting the house of the culture of Zacatecoluca The winning entry was entitled "Print in October. "Because the war in El Salvador Bonilla intensified the teacher had to move his residence to Japan with his beloved wife is also Japanese origin. Before leaving the teacher to the young Eli Bonilla said that to complete his training as painter should select a painting academy that are in San Salvador the capital of El Salvador. And without the teacher Bonilla my brother continued to make various works and participating in some exhibitions, but did not forget the teacher's advice.'s how through a friend (Carlos Salazar), went to visit the master Pedro Acosta García, who taught painting at his academy located in the upper part of a five-story building in downtown San Salvador. My friend and my brother Carlos Salazar Roland Eli had arranged to bring a work of art painted in oil on canvas, so that the teacher will do a critique. Before telling her what happened I want to mention some of the master bibliographic Pedro Garcia Acosta, who was born on August 10, 1930 in the city of San Salvador: He studied painting at the Academy of the Spanish master Lecha (1948-1955) , and was in 1956 when the government of El Salvador for five years as given scholarships to study at the Central School of Fine Arts of San Fernando, Madrid, Spain. He learned through the branches of painting: Art History, Anatomy, Color Preparation, Restoration of Works and Mural Fresco. After these studies has exhibited in various parts of the world. Going back to what happened in the teacher's academy Acosta: He told Carlos Salazar, not used to criticize the works of other painters but case of a friend I will (The painting was a woman sitting on the edge of the beach playing a guitar), "Watch the sky has to be concave, the sea must have movement, factions of women are very hard and guitar strings have to vibrate to the touch. The rest of the painting I consider this good. " There was no doubt in his mind told my brother, "I stand before a great teacher" was how Eli was five years under the supervision Roldán Pedro Acosta teacher, who taught him various techniques in the field of painting. When did my brother who was a painter?, This happened when the teacher told him he could make his first exhibition. This took place in September 1997 in the Art Gallery "José Mejía Vides" Cultural Center Salvadoran which exhibited fifty works in acrylic, oil and mixed with different motives and formats. In this exhibition the maestro Eli Acosta Roldán handed a diploma as a graduate of the academy diploma that time was the second person to get it. Since then my brother has found his own style of painting, showing his works, an art neofigurative. With this style participated in the First Vienal PAIZ in November 2001, the National Exhibition hall in the park Cuscatlan, San Salvador, El Salvador Centro America.
